To honor Fair Housing month in April, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has issued the Fair Housing Challenge: Stand Up for Racial Equity. This challenge includes having all association leaders, both appointed and elected, complete the Fairhaven Housing Simulation and the online Implicit Bias Training program by April 9.
The Northeast Florida Association of REALTORS® (NEFAR), realMLS, and Metro Market Trends, Inc. wish to applaud NAR President Charlie Oppler for issuing this challenge. We encourage all REALTORS® to use these programs and to consider earning the At Home with Diversity certification so they can better work throughout the year to promote diverse and inclusive communities where everyone feels welcome.
As REALTORS® in Northeast Florida, we plan to observe the anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 by encouraging everyone to confront and check their own biases, to gain an education about segregation and discrimination in real estate, and to remain committed towards expanding equal access to housing for all, one interaction at a time. Only in this way can we successfully build our businesses to thrive in a multicultural real estate market.
An online simulation that allows users to play the agent role as they confront various housing discrimination scenarios.
